Roman shades are a CUSTOM WINDOW TREATMENT!

Roman shades are a CUSTOM WINDOW TREATMENT!

CUSTOM WINDOW TREATMENTS! ROMAN SHADES.

Roman shades are a CUSTOM WINDOW TREATMENT which stack neatly at the top of the window. Full length draperies are dramatic and rich but where a streamlined modern look is needed and space is a premium, fabric shades may be the answer.
Not all fabric Roman shades are created equal. Relaxed shades need soft fabric and constructed shades need a stiff fabric. You have a choice of lining also so consider your needs if privacy is a concern. Motorization is an option also. Also, considered whether you want inside or outside mount. If you have beautiful moulding please let this architectural detail show. Feel free to call Allegra or Jennifer to discuss options for CUSTOM WINDOW TREATMENTS.

Decorating Small Spaces

Decorating Small Spaces

SPECTACULAR SMALL SPACES

  • From the California Bungalow to the Downtown Loft, homeowners and renters have continuously struggled to find furniture which fits into their petite square footage.
  • I rent a Master Suite in a remodeled California bungalow. I know, first hand, how hard it is to fit everything you own into a small space.
  • The furniture industry has finally started to scale down their designs. The demand for pieces which aren’t over-scaled has skyrocketed. Small accent pieces have gained popularity, adding to the eclectic vibe of peoples’ homes.
  • It is important, before you splurge on unnecessary items, to inventory how you use the room. Is this a room for eating? Do you entertain in this room? Do you do office work in it? Take naps? All of your daily activities within the room need to be outlined, so you can create a functional space that you love.
  • Make your SMALL SPACE spectacular with punches of color, texture and pattern. Create stations for all your activities. Remember to buy pieces which have storage. Surround yourself with the things you love and pieces which have function.
Cleaning Shag Rugs

Cleaning Shag Rugs

Shag Rugs:

  • Spray extraction, with the use of wool approved products, will help in solving the cleaning issue.
  • Shedding is a normal feature in a wool product and decreases over a period of time. Do not pull the yarn out as this may result in damage to the rug.
  • Canister vacuums without a beater bar are most effective in cleaning shag rugs.
  • Vacuums with beater bar and brushes, or those that are set too low may abrade the face of the rug.

Cleaning Natural Fiber Area Rugs

Cleaning Natural Fiber Area Rugs

  • NATURAL FIBER AREA RUGS: JUTE/HEMP/COIR/SISAL
  • Natural fiber rugs have an inherent quality of having loose fibers and knots.
Regularly vacuum the area rug on a low-power setting. Vacuum the rug from
    different angles.
  • If you see any loose threads on the face, they should be trimmed with a household scissors. Do not pull the threads on the face to avoid unraveling or damage to the rug.
  • Spills should be blotted with a clean, undyed cloth to absorb as much of the spill possible. Work from the outer edges of the spill towards the center. Gently blot. Do not saturate the AREA RUG.
  • If applying cleaning solvents, test on a small area first. For stubborn stains use a professional cleaning service that specializes in wool rugs. Do not dry clean. Steam cleaning chemicals may damage or fade the rug.

Area Rugs. Care and Cleaning

Area Rugs. Care and Cleaning

  • GENERAL CARE AND CLEANING
Your investment in your area rug, if you want it to last you must take care of it properly. I have listed some tips to help you take care of
your product and make it last longer.
  • Vacuuming your area rug.
The most damaging effect on area rugs is vacuuming. Extra care must be taken when vacuuming your rug.
High powered vacuums will pull threads out of the back of tugs and cause sprouts.
These include the bagless Dyson and Oreck. If a vacuum can pick up a bowling ball imagine what it can do to a rug.
Solution: Use the handheld attachment to vacuum your AREA RUG.
  • Beater bar will pull fibers from the face of the rug or they can cause the face of your rug to fuzz
Solution: Turn the beater bar off on your vacuum, or if it can not be turned off have it on the highest setting.
  • The serging on the edges of rugs are very sensitive. Running the vacuum over the edges will cause the serging to
deteriorate and fibers will come loose around the edges.
Solution: Carefully place your vacuum on the edge of the rug.
  • The fringes on the ends of rugs will be destroyed by all vacuums.
Solutions: Use the handheld attachment to clean fringes.
  • Brooms and sweepers are a great, gentle way to clean your rug.
  • Canister vacuums without beater bars are the most effective.
Guidelines for Cleaning Wool Rugs

Guidelines for Cleaning Wool Rugs

  • With a dry cotton towel or white paper towel, blot out stain as much as possible.
  • Scrape off any food or debris with a dull instrument.
  • Mix a very small amount of dish soap with a cup of cold water. With clean sponge and soap mix, gently remove remainder of stain. Avoid using excessive water.
  • Bloat area with dry towel.
  • Avoid excessive heat or agitation, We recommend using a professional rug
cleaner on an annual basis. Wool rugs are more prone to bleeding and staining
than their synthetic counterparts, thus requiring extra prompt and careful cleaning.
Pair of Chairs

Pair of Chairs

Solving Decorating Problems, two at a time!
Pairs of chairs

  • Chairs don’t get enough credit. In the furniture world, the sofa is the headliner attracting the most attention. We understand why: The sofa — or the sectional — is often the focal point, the place where the most people sit and the centerpiece of the room. But where chairs really stand out in ways that sofas can’t match is as style accents, much like jewelry for the room. On top of their strong style statements, chairs are physically smaller, which allows people to place them in settings where sofas just won’t fit.
